Brave Kids Reunion 2019
Two of our girls Priyanka Chand and Laxmi, both Bharatanatyam dancers have gone for their second trip to Poland for the three week long Brave Kids Reunion 2019. Each year atleast 4 of our girls visit Brave for a very special educational and arts exchange program. Last year 16 of them had gone! It is a MOMENTOUS part of their yearly calendar. At Brave, the girls represent India- quite literally. There are close to 10 other countries, sometimes 14–15 and the girls represent the gamut of India’s ‘soft power.’ They showcase our Classical Forms of dance, some folk forms- they teach Yoga asanas- they eat drink sleep art forms of other countries. Its literally a ‘kid teach kid model’ whereby they come back wholly soaking in artistic bliss. They exchange notes on their countries- our girls make everyone wear Bindis, Mehendi (even the boys!). They cook Indian food recipes at their Polish host families’ homes. They learn smattering of other languages and poems in those languages. Its an amazing life changing experience, this!
From sitting in flights (a new for most poor people in India) to making friends from around the world. Brave Kids is an educational program like none other!!
