Therapeutic learning space for Delhi Shaktis!
The Machhli Park Adventure
Sarvam Shakti runs its Delhi project in two locations, each with a bunch of eager-to-learn passionate young girls. One of the locations is Gurgaon, where the project functions at a beautifully decorated and well equipped basement.
However, the Vasant Kunj project carries out dance classes and English classes for the students in an open park! Located in Mehrauli, the ‘Machhli Park’ is witness to a bunch of super-excited girls gathering multiple times a week, learning a plethora of art.
One might wonder, why a park? When asked, the most plausible reason given by the students was that it was open air and that it felt fresh. But feeling fresh in the scorching heat of Delhi summer is a task.
The most interesting answers point to their passion for the dance form they learn! The girls pointed out that while learning Kathak and Bharatnatyam, it is easier and beneficial for them to carry out correct foot movements on the muddy ground as compared to the hard concrete. They also feel closer to Earth barefoot on the ground.
These girls are ready to change the ground beneath their feet rather than compromising their beloved dance form!
